Each of us is unique and it's nice to enjoy this diversity. By looking closer, you will see common traits and talents. It's the specific arrangement of these basic human aspects that makes us unique.
Sometimes change is mandatory for professional or personal survival. Does that mean we have to forfeit our basics and conform to the norm ? Of course not, change means we have to rethink the arrangement of our skills and talents.
In my coaching and change management programs, I have illustrated this with simple graphic elements. Look at how many different faces and figures you can draw with three basic symetrical shapes: a square, a triangle and a circle.
You have your acquired set of shapes but you can reconfigure the overall picture. That's the whole point.
You don't believe me ?
Look at these:
Mr Square knows he has some sharp edges but he's ok, square, confident, maybe stuck. Why change ?
Mrs Triangle thinks that less edges can help in moving forward through clutter. Change ? Yes let's try(angle).
Ms Circle rolls through it all effortlessly, like a wheel. You can't corner her nor upset her. Change? Big wheel, keep on turning !
Does this inspire you ? Let me know how you react to this.
